As a Product Designer
I developed a design strategy to meet the diverse needs of professionals improving their resumes, balancing simplicity and flexibility while navigating conflicting feedback from stakeholders. Through multiple iterations, I ensured the experience was both intuitive and personalized.
Leading ideation and key feature development within a team of four designers, I tackled challenges in alignment and communication across design and product teams. By fostering collaboration and streamlining workflows, we successfully delivered user-focused solutions despite shifting priorities and constraints.
To support platform scalability, I helped design the initial design system for a new product, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and efficiency. Integrating AI-powered features required overcoming challenges in usability and complexity, working closely with product managers, developers, and leadership to create a seamless experience. The updated system strengthened cross-functional collaboration and established a scalable foundation for future growth.
This process was an impactful and rewarding journey, where I drove meaningful user experiences, guided innovation, and implemented improvements that aligned user needs with business objectives. These achievements highlight my ability to deliver strategic and effective design solutions.
The process
The discovery phase involved market research and engaging stakeholders, including professionals across industries and career stages. It identified common frustrations like formatting issues, lack of guidance, and difficulty tailoring CVs. To address these, the design focused on simplicity and flexibility.
User personas and problem statements were created, mapping detailed user journeys from template selection to export. Emphasis was placed on AI recommendations, customizable templates, and export flexibility to meet diverse user needs.
Problem statements
#1 Job seekers struggle with formatting resumes and presenting their skills effectively, leading to frustration and misalignment with job expectations.
#2 Many resume templates are outdated or incompatible with modern ATS systems, reducing their effectiveness in job markets.
#3 The resume-building process on existing platforms is time-consuming and disjointed, causing frustration and abandonment.
#4 Applicants, especially those with limited experience or non-linear career paths, are unsure about what to include and how to frame their experiences.
#5 Users face challenges exporting resumes in formats that maintain design integrity and are compatible with ATS systems or employer platforms.

The user journey begins with a simple onboarding process, guiding users to select a resume design and input their details. This leads to a customisation stage with AI-driven content suggestions and design tools.
Once completed, resumes can be easily downloaded in ATS-compatible formats. Users are then encouraged to share their experience and access additional resources like cover letter templates or career advice.
The ideation phase focused on making the process stress-free, solving challenges like clear guidance, tailoring content, and adaptable templates.
The design prioritized smooth navigation, flexible editing, and convenient download options to meet the needs of today’s job seekers.
I collaborated closely with a team of four other product designers and two development teams and their respective project managers through agile sprints, ensuring that each design iteration was aligned with both technical feasibility and user needs. Together, we conducted several usability tests throughout the project: an initial round to validate early prototypes and identify usability issues, a mid-project test to refine the designs based on user feedback, and a final evaluation to ensure smooth user flows and address any remaining concerns.
Post-launch, I worked alongside the development teams to analyse user behaviour and platform performance. This ongoing collaboration allowed us to make data-driven improvements, ensuring the platform remained intuitive and effective while meeting business goals. Our focus on continuous refinement and user feedback enabled us to create an adaptable and evolving experience for all users.
